    Pat Dewes was educated at St Stithians College and after completing National Service in Cape Town, attended law school at Maritzburg Varsity. He signed articles in Pietermaritzburg and was admitted as an attorney in 1980. Pat works within our Litigation Division, dealing with Civil, Commercial and General Law.

Litigation

We do our best to resolve all our clients' disputes promptly by giving solid, practical advice at the outset with a view to avoiding unnecessary litigation. Disputes that cannot be resolved in this way are only pursued in court with a view to achieving results and adding value. Clients are assured of our integrity, confidentiality and cost-effective practical results. Our specialised Litigation Department comprises seven directors, two professional assistants, one associate and two executive consultants. In addition the department has various specialised units dealing in particular areas of law.

    Ashton Naidoo completed a BSoc Sci in Criminolgy and his LLB at the University of KwaZulu Natal. He currently manages our Durban office and specialises in family law and general litigation. Ashton worked as a legal advisor prior to going into private practice. Before joining Venns in 2016, Ashton was a Director at his previous firm.

  • Nosipo Mgojo

    Chairperson

    Nosipo Mgojo is the current Chairperson of the firm and a director of the Conveyancing Division. She joined the firm in 1997 and was admitted as an Attorney & Conveyancer in 1999 and as a Notary public in 2001. She is experienced in the registration of servitudes, local transfers, bonds and property development transfers.

  • Redvers Lee

    Director

    Redvers Lee is a specialist conveyancer with substantial experience in transfers, bonds, servitudes, property developments and sectional title schemes. He was admitted as an attorney and conveyancer in 1985 and as a notary public in 2000.

Debt Recovery

We offer a superior debt collection service through our Legal Recoveries Teams. There is a seamless integration between the handover and commencement of legal recoveries. Our collections expertise spans over 60 years, with expertise across a broad spectrum of clients; these include the public sector, banks, retailers, schools, body corporates, medical facilities etc. The Debt Recoveries Department is headed by Rob Pennefather as executive consultant and manager.

Rob Pennefather attended Rhodes university to complete both BA and B Com degrees. He graduated LLB and worked as a partner of Brokensha, Meyer & Ptns. Rob has extensive experience and theoretical knowledge of Civil Procedure in both the High Court and the Magistrates’ Courts.

Labour Law

Venns’ Labour Law Team advises Companies and Senior Individuals on all aspects of labour law. We represent our clients in enquiries, mediations, arbitrations and litigation in the CCMA, Bargaining Councils and the Labour Court. We assist our clients to resolve complex labour issues in both union and non-union environments.

Our Public Law Division has been providing a dedicated service to the public sector since 1997.
